Description: This Kumihimo necklace looks like a crocheted rope, but, instead of taking days to make, it will only take a few hours. It is made on a Japanese braiding table called a Marudai. Students will learn how to set up the Marudai and how to braid with it. Learning this Marudai technique will prepare students to continue with many more advanced projects.
Project will be completed in class.
Student must be at least 16 years old to register for this class.
Supplies to Bring: Beading mat, scissors, tape measure, eight 85 g bobbins, Marudai, drawstring weight bag, 340 g of loose weights (fishing weights or coins), S-hook, chopstick or smooth pencil, task lamp.
Pliers: Chainnose.
Materials in Kit: Lampworked beads, silver spacers, cord, sterling clasp, sterling S-hook, seed beads, tapestry needle, beading needle, beading thread.
Limit: One seat per person per class.
