Description: Get ready to further stretch your boundaries using borosilicate glass. Demos and hands-on projects include custom color blends and sculptural forms to create beads both on and off a mandrel. Students will also experiment with asymmetrical shapes and textural surface designs. Additional projects completed in class include a large-hole vessel or wine stopper and a heavily encased button or pendant. Class involves the use of a torch with open flame and gases. Wear safety (didymium) glasses, cotton clothing and closed-toe shoes. Tie long hair back.
Project will be completed in class.
Student must be at least 18 years old to register for this class.
Supplies to Bring: Didymium or safety glasses, mandrels, mashers, personal lampworking tools, tungsten pick, tweezers.
Materials in Kit: Borosilicate color from Northstar, custom color kits and frits from Glass Alchemy, clear borosilicate rods.
