Technique: Glass and Lampworking
Description: This is a comprehensive introductory course on glass bead making. Using dual-fuel torches, students will explore the time-honored methods of lampworking. With demonstrations and practice, students will learn how to operate a dual-fuel torch and form a bead, then refine their skills by exploring decorative techniques to use in their own masterpiece. This workshop is held in a great learning environment where students can discuss, explore, and practice their new craft. This class involves the use of a torch with open flame and gases. Wear didymium glasses, cotton clothing, and closed-toe shoes. Tie long hair back.
Project will not be completed in class.
Student must be at least 18 years old to register for this class.
Supplies to Bring: Didymium glasses, pen, notebook. Instructor will have didymium glasses available for purchase in class.
Materials in Kit: Marver, tweezers, mandrels, glass rods, bead release, frit, foil.
Limit: One seat per person per class.
