Sat. June 7 • 9:00am-5:00pm (with 2 hr. break) - (6 hours)
Level: Advanced Beginner
Maximum Class Size: 11
Class Fee: $230.00
Technique: Glass and Lampworking
Description: This class will focus on helping both new and intermediate students enlarge their repertoire of round beads, keeping in mind that these beads will be used in finished jewelry. The class will focus on many styles, including all sorts of dots, bubbles, masking, feathering, encasing, stripes, and hearts. Some details will be done with stringer; others will be done with tungsten or steel picks, a knife, or regular-sized rods that are marvered to a point. These beads will work well as focals or as filler beads, and the smaller ones are great for earrings. The instructor will also demonstrate how to make multiple beads on a mandrel to help with sizing and speed, which is very useful in production bead making. Not all of the techniques are represented in the photos. Class involves the use of a torch with open flame and gases. Wear safety (didymium) glasses, cotton clothing, and closed-toe shoes. Tie long hair back. Additional session offered Friday, June 6 (B08735).
Project will be completed in class.
