Technique: Glass and Lampworking
Description: Learn simple off-mandrel techniques, such as turning and forming marias, which are the building blocks for creating small sculptural pieces like icicles, teardrops, angels, hummingbirds, and other solid-glass designs. Class involves the use of a torch with open flame and gases. Wear safety (didymium) glasses, cotton clothing, and closed-toe shoes. Tie long hair back.
Project will be completed in class.
Student must be at least 18 years old to register for this class.
Supplies to Bring: Didymium or safety glasses. Basic lampworking tools will be provided for use in class.
Materials in Kit: Two rods (48 in.) 10 mm boro clear, one rod (48 in.) 6 mm boro clear, two rods (48 in.) 8 mm boro clear, one rod indigo luster (10 in.) 6 mm boro clear, one rod Elvis red (10 in.) 6 mm boro clear, one rod cobalt (10 in.) 6 mm boro clear, one rod Paris green (10 in.) 6 mm boro clear.
