Technique: Glass and Lampworking
Description: Learn the secret to creating iridescent surface colors and textures with a simple palette of raku-inspired borosilicate colors. Instructor will share his knowledge and experience of working with metallic boro colors. Students will make a handful of beads, ranging from disks to focals and even hollows. Class involves the use of a torch with open flame and gases. Wear safety (didymium) glasses, cotton clothing, and closed-toe shoes. Tie long hair back.
Project will be completed in class.
Student must be at least 18 years old to register for this class.
Supplies to Bring: Didymium or safety glasses, personal lampworking tools. Basic lampworking tools will be provided for use in class.
Materials in Kit: One 10-in. rod of each of the following: Amazon night, amazon bronze, indigo luster, amazon canyon, black pearl, amazon jewel, red jasper, clover chameleon, raven. Clear per student: One 4-ft. rod of 6 ml and two 4-ft. rods of 3 ml. Frit: One bag of frit amazon bronze (size 25), one bag of frit amazon bronze (size 38), one bag of frit amazon night (size 25), one bag of frit amazon night (size 38), one bag of frit indigo luster (size 25), one bag of frit indigo luster (size 38). Tubing: One 4-ft. section of 9.5 ml heavy wall tubing.
